A Celebration of Yael Zofi’s Virtual Working Group Book
Six months ago we celebrated the publication of my virtual working group book, A Manager’s Guide to Virtual Teams. As you can imagine, a great deal of effort went into its research, writing and editing. The book launch party was the culmination of these virtual project team efforts, and it was an exciting night. Looking around the room filled with colleagues, peers and friends made it even more special.
Here are few quotes from leaders in the field praising the book:
“The significant value of this book is that Zofi explains how to help a virtual team function effectively. Based on data from more than 150 interviews with managers and members of virtual working groups, couple with examples of how technology enables the work, and from her experiences working with virtual working groups, Zofi helps us to understand what success looks like in the workplace of the 21st century.”
– W. Warner Burke, Ph.D., Edward Lee Thorndike Professor of Psychology and Education, Teachers College, Columbia University
“Yael Zofi’s A Manager’s Guide to Virtual Teams is a must-read for managers and directors operating in LEAN businesses, where scarce talent in remote corners of different organizations must work together to complete initiatives using fractions of their time.”
– Jeanine Johnson, Senior Manager, Amazon
“Regardless of where you are in your career, A Manager’s Guide to Virtual Teams is a well organized and comprehensive resource within the global management landscape. It provides global managers with a necessary toolkit and solutions enabling them to establish and inspire winning teams.”
– Alex Ovadia, Director, Global Systems, Philips Healthcare

So exciting to see so many colleagues and friends, thank you everybody for coming and celebrating the publication of my new book, “A Manager’s Guide to Virtual Teams”.
It’s written in a very simple practical way, very common sense for you the virtual manager.
How many here work with teams every day and work with people that you’ve never met? This is very challenging for the virtual managers, so what is the biggest obstacle that managers have? So, these are some of the questions that I’ve been exploring for the past two decades. I interviewed over 150 virtual managers and team members and their stories come to life in the book, not just their stories, but their situations so that out of sight did not become out of mind.
It’s been an amazing experience because the book actually the case studies and the stories and scenarios in it offer a roadmap at the end of each chapter.
When I first told Susan I wanted to write a book, the first reaction was “Are you crazy?” She is filling the sentence. Can you tell that we’ve work together for a long time?
Somebody actually came up to me tonight and said “How did this event even happen?” and I said: “Because of my AIM Team”.
