See Expert, Yael Zofi Team Building Strategies Presentation On The Future of The Virtual Project Team
Tomorrow I am heading to Boston to speak about our Virtual Project Team Trends Report and Podcast. I have been asked to present at the 12th Annual Global Conference of the International Leadership Association (ILA) in Boston, MA on October 30th from 1:30 – 2:30pm. This team building strategies session is entitled:
Maximize the Power of Teamwork – Even When Team Members are
Worlds Apart
Here are some highlights from the session description:
Globalization and advanced technology have propelled the virtual project team (VT) front and center in the workplace. The fundamental challenge is how to create effective work relationships and develop trust across cultures without the benefit of face-to-face contact. Drawing from over twenty years of consulting and coaching global teams, as well as 150+ interviews, the presenter will share trends and conclusions about leading an effective virtual project team with a special focus on cross cultural communications. In this interactive session, participants will learn sure fire techniques that are key to successful team setup or to refreshing an existing virtual project team.
Abstract: Walk through any office and you know how different things are from only a decade ago. If you talk with employees, some will tell you they are working on projects with co-workers who are not in the same building, same city, or even the same country. Ask them if they have met their teammates, and some may claim to view pictures on the Internet or engaged in phone conversations.
Clearly, teams have changed.
No longer confined to a single office space, employees are becoming widely dispersed across the globe. These “virtual teams” are transforming the workplace and are forcing leaders to adapt or risk being left behind. With advances in technology making communication across borders easier, it becomes clear to see why a virtual project team (VT) is an increasingly common alternative to the traditional work group. They offer many advantages, but the lack of face-to-face interaction creates new issues. Perhaps the most critical one is the difficulty in maintaining clear lines of communication. Connection is the lifeblood of organizations, and without a ‘human connection’ facilitating communication, VTs cannot achieve optimum performance.
This presentation will help novice and experienced virtual project team members and managers to align their teams for success and overcome the challenges of working in the virtual world. I am looking forward to meeting all of your attending!
Looking forward to reporting back on my trip….take care, Yael.
