Your Guide To Managing Virtual Project Teams
Managing Virtual Project Teams: ‘Bridging the Human Connection In a Virtual World’ Blog is getting a fresh new look as we continue to study, research and launch AIM Strategies® newly improved and updated website www.aim-strategies.com .
Along with this latest initiative is Yael Zofi’s new virtual teams blog focusing on bridging the human connection gaps and bringing people together even though they are working while physically apart. I chose this particular topic – managing virtual project teams – since I have been writing. speaking and working alongside virtual teams for over a decade now. These days I am in the midst of focusing on my latest book called, A Manager’s Guide to Virtual Teams.
This virtual teams book is written for you! Yes – YOU!!! The virtual team member, the virtual working group, the virtual manager, the global leader – you out there working with your virtual project teams every day.
For the purposes of the book I interviewed over 150 virtual team managers and virtual project team leaders from all over the world (data was collected from nearly 500 virtual project team managers working locally and globally in today’s dispersed business environment).Their amazing stories about the challenges and solutions around creating the human connection despite the fact that there is no physical human connection has been captured along with helpful tips, tools and techniques for successfully managing virtual project teams. Now Managing Virtual Project Teams ‘Bridging the Human Connection In a Virtual World’ blog will focus on bringing best practices and key highlights your way, providing thoughts and suggestions on how to create connection when there is no way you can use all your senses to enable that.
This concept is not necessarily new. I started working with global leaders back in 1998-1999 around Y2K projects (remember those days?) when the concept of bringing the human touch to the ever changing tech world was coming together. I presented at several global conferences during those years and wrote several thought leadership papers on the global aspects of leaders and virtual project teams, but now it has all come full circle…. Virtual teams are here to stay. And technology enables us to communicate faster, better and more efficiently. But that extra HC = Human Connection element is what glues it all together. I invite you to join me on the journey to explore Managing Virtual Project Teams Blog, ‘Bridging the Human Connection In a Virtual World.’
