Mastermind on Cross Cultural Communication and Virtual Teams

Brainstorm Meeting on Cross Cultural Communication and Cross Cultural Competence

AIM Strategies® recently hosted a special group Mastermind Brainstorming session with experienced colleagues, clients and consultants to share creative ideas about meeting the cross cultural communication challenges of managing virtual teams. This brainstorming meeting took place at our AIM Strategies® corporate office space located in Brooklyn, New York. The engaging team discussion focused on meeting specific cross cultural business communication needs for building stronger cross cultural competence in the complex workplace environment.

Selected participants met for three hours in the morning to engage in dynamic dialogue and participate in a special learning experience. Besides contributing, sharing and exchanging ideas about cross cultural communication, the group also considered evolving into a creative think tank that plans to tackle cross cultural business communication workplace trends in the near future. Several members offered to partner with AIM on future cross cultural communication assignments and be part of AIM’s extended team of experts.

There was unanimous interest to explore cross cultural competence and the human connection topics I wrote about in A Manager’s Guide to Virtual Teams and figure how to better leverage these important virtual team management concepts going forward. As expected, Context communication and cross cultural communication were the biggest topics of the day, and several participants would like to see more coaching to support leaders and teams who work together across continents and need to further develop cross cultural competence.

While we didn’t figure out all of the specific virtual leadership and remote team management priorities to take this cross cultural business communication effort forward, I can definitely say that we exercised our brains and engaged our special time together in constructive group discussion about something of great interest to all.

For those of you following my blog posts, I pose these questions:

• What virtual team management solutions would you like to have at your fingertips that will resolve your cross cultural business communication and remote team leadership challenges?

• How can AIM Strategies® and support your virtual management and leadership training efforts?
